HISTORY
Kawartha Lakes Wakeboard Co. started as a vision some 6 years ago with my good friend Sean Bush. We thought to ourselves, “Our area needs a wakeboard specific pro-shop for all wakeboarders beginner or advanced, RUN by wakeboarders.” With high prices and very unknowledgeable sales staff in the other area shops, we felt that opening and operating a shop dedicated strictly to wakeboarding could be a great idea for Peterborough and Kawartha Lakes area.
In the winter of 03/04 we created a business plan and contacted our first brands. After fixing up an old workshop, KLWC opened its doors in May of 2004 in front of Chemong Lodge in Bridgenorth, Ontario.
In the summer of 2005, we moved the pro-shop to the main street of Bridgenorth, Ward St. beside Tim Horton’s., and opened a new division of KLWC; Chemong Lake Wakeboard School. Chemong Lake Wakeboard School delivers certified instruction in wakeboarding, and wakeskating. The school now delivers daily private and group instruction, resort days, free demo sessions, summer day camps and pro clinics.
At KLWC we also produce and host an annual wakeboard competition and spectator event. The Kawartha Lakes Wakeboard OPEN 2008 will be the fourth annual event hosted by KLWC. The event attracts 100 pro and amature competitors along with 1000's of spectators and features wakeboard and wakeskate competition of all skill levels, novice to pro, beer garden, live music, food court , bikini contest and KLWC vendor village.
2008 will be the greatest year yet, new brands, larger selection, bigger events, new and improved WAKESCHOOL, along with the same great prices and the best service in the area.
